Third Annual Commemoration

On Saturday the 4th of March 2017 the third annual commemoration was held in the Serbian Orthodox Church St Sava, in London for courageous women who, in various medical missions, risked and sacrificed their lives in Serbia and on the related fronts during the Great War. The event was organised by St Sava church and the Circle of Serbian Sisters Kosovka Devojka and was supported by Serbian organisations – Serbian Council of Great Britain, Serbian Society, Serbian City Club, Britic and the Embassy of Republic of Serbia.

New Year's Eve

As in previous years, Kolo Serbian Sisters "Kosovka Devojka" has celebrated Serbian New Year's Eve on the 13th January in the "Bishop Nikolay" hall. The evening started with Vespers in our Church.

Our guests were noble firemen from South Wales of the "Blazing to Serbia" group. They are great friends of Serbian people, who for the past 10 years have taken to Serbia a number of fire engines as well as equipment for our firemen. They also helped many other needy people. Here, in our community they are not well known, so this visit was a good opportunity to introduce these valiant golden hearted and generous "knights" who have done so much for our people for so many years.

Circle of Serbian Sisters “Kosovo Maiden”

On the occasion of The Assumption in 1903 a group of ladies in Belgrade met and decided to form a cultural and humane society. A charter was created for this group, whose aim was to extend as much help to the needy and suffering in Serbia and Macedonia and later, once the group had developed, to help all subjugated Serbs wherever they may be. Branislav Nusic, a renowed Serbian author, suggested that the organisation be called the Circle of Serbian Sisters. The main founders of the group were Nadezda Petrovic, Delfa Ivanic and Savka Subotic. Savka Subotic was the first President of the Circle. Queen Mother Marija later became its patron.
